About Us

We crave a simple life, unhindered by strange devotion to trivial things...like blogging...GREAT, there goes our credibility!

During the worst economic landscape since the Great Depression, we intentionally became a one-income family.  With both of us managing careers and commutes the end result was that our childcare provider was spending all the best hours of the day with our child (Pomme wasn't born yet).  We struggled to remain close as a family with so much competing for our time and attention.  Georgia Peach opted out of the workforce to stay home with the girls and slowly things began to change for the better.

But that was just the beginning of our walk down a divergent path.  We began looking into preschools for our Papple and were not too happy with what we found.  Georgia Peach started researching homeschool options for early childhood education and what we found was startling.  Not only are there bountiful options for educating the young child at home, but there is a vibrant and diverse network of other families already on the journey.  So we chose to homeschool our children - at least for now.

The last culturally askew decision we made was to pay off all our debt and vow never to borrow money again except for the home mortgage...which we are working hard to pay off early.  In the past two years we have met a lot of other families who are serious about debt-free living.  It is encouraging and exciting to be part of the grassroots movement that is challenging Americans to be better stewards of our money.

Big Apple writes from the perspective of provider and Christian spiritual leader of our family - he usually talks about debt-free living, but occasionally strays off into other topics.  Big Apple has a masters degree in Finance and volunteers as a Facilitator for Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University.

Georgia Peach writes about daily life from the perspective of a Christian homemaker, gluten-free cook, helpmate to Big Apple, and homeschool mom.  Georgia Peach has a degree in marketing and maintains this blog to expend a little creative energy.

Papple and Petit Pomme are our children.  They both celebrate their birthdays in January, but that seems to be the only similarity between the two.  Papple is boisterous, loud, and extremely social.   Pomme is content, snuggly, and quietly playful.  Night and Day in every way...at least for now.

Thanks for stopping by our blog - we're so glad you are here!

Blessings,
Big Apple and Georgia Peach
